A slightly chilly NW wind varying from 12-18 knots greeted the 4 participating yachts for race two of the TCC spring series.
Sea state was moderate making for some interesting manoeuvres at the windward Irvine buoy which was rounded twice when completing the the long NW course.
Unfortunately two yachts were delayed from their original start time due to the “stay in harbour light” being displayed by the harbour master but allowance was given for the new start time in the results.
Selkie once again retired not due to a furler failure this time but due to a snapped tiller. Although there was almost two miles separation between the first and second boats to cross the finish on correction it can down to a three minute winning margin after around two hours of racing to Connor McGaughey and team on Crystal Clear followed by Ken Stott and crew on Hunters Moon.
This week Stuart Powrie was a little under crewed and brought up the rear albeit 3rd on Green Kestrel.
The attached video shows how bumpy and tricky the racks were especially for the sailing newcomers on Crystal Clear and I’m sure Green Kestrel. [sorry, video can’t upload to website]
