OFFSHORE
The Mullach Mhor was run on Saturday in bright conditions with a forecast for a steady breeze.
However the winds became light and variable on approaching Arran. Hoodlum managed to get across the line followed later by Green Kestrel but unfortunately there was insufficient for Hydra to make it ahead of the cut off.
Saying hello to Serini at Kingscross the boats then made their way to Lamlash where they met up with Escape and Silmaril. Refreshments were had with Arran Yacht Club in their boatshed, celebrating the opening of their new clubhouse. The TCC muster bbq was then enjoyed on the slip by all present.
The Hamilton Rock return race was forecast for rain that fortunately turned out only to be some short squally showers. A steady westerly breeze got everyone home swiftly with Hydra making up for their Saturday retirement by coming first. Green Kestrel was only 10 seconds behind on corrected with Hoodlum 3rd .
INSHORE
The first race of the inshore series, specifically designed to encourage yachts with handicap of 20+, was the 50th Anniversary Cup, unfortunately this was unable to be run with the weather. The next opportunity is this weekend in the Round Lady Isle pursuit race.
This is run in Wacky format with start times on the notice board and website, no mass start so no reason not to give it a go!
WACKIES
We achieved one of our season objectives this month and hit double figures in the one evening, well done to the ten who participated on the 10th!
The final race of the month started with 3 boats, shadowed by those training on Spanker but sadly no finishers due to the absence of breeze. The results meant Seascape secured the monthly medal.
Look out for the revised times for July on the website and notice board soon.
See you on the water!
