Burns Supper and update re cruising holiday in October

TROON CRUISING CLUB – ANNUAL BURNS SUPPER

Now that Christmas and New Year are behind us, can we invite you to join us at the Burns Supper to be held on Friday 9 February in Dundonald Bowling Club.

We have a great programme lined up, and with the help of George Hunter we will have the pleasure of being entertained by Willie Gibson, an international Burns speaker, together with Jim Gibson (no relation) who is also a well known Burnsonian.
Willie has one or two different ideas to make it a fun night as well as a memorable tribute to our Bard.   A  young lady by the name of Demi Chisholm will be singing for  you, accompanied by Mariea Black.  Phil Beard’s son, Tom will also entertain us with a violin medley which we have also enjoyed in the past.  A member of Troon Boys Brigade will do the honours by piping in the haggis, always a treat.  Other entertainers will be Jacqui Bond and Fiona Douglas.  As always the ladies of the Dundonald Bowling Club will indulge you with a Burns feast to set you up for the night.

The price of the tickets will be £22.50 and we would like to get underway a little earlier this year, at 7 pm.  As usual we will be running a raffle and aside from the generous donations from various local companies, any donations would be gratefully received.

As this will be my last event as Social Convenor, and the only remaining major event in the Club’s calendar, I would appeal to you to support me as you have done over the past three years, and hopefully will do for my successor, Carolyn Voisey in everything she organises.

Please contact me or Babs by phone (07955853558 or 01292 311908) or let us know by email how many tickets you would like.

CRUISING THE AEGEAN IN OCTOBER

Consider coming with us to Athens in October (20 to 27) for a week’s cruising among the beautiful islands of the Aegean.  We have seven members and non members who have already signed up, and as we are going to the London Boat Show next weekend, would like to ascertain numbers, as we may need to charter two boats rather than one and need to discuss this with contacts at the Boat Show.  So if you can get back to me as soon as possible it would be appreciated.

The flights are currently £125 return from Edinburgh to Athens and return.  Cost of a place on the yacht will probably be in the region of £200/£250.

Several members of the club have accompanied us in the past and will testify to the enjoyment of the whole experience.

Look forward to hearing from you!
